Salzburger Konzertgesellschaft

Innovative Art & Culture since 1992

The SALZBURGER KONZERTGESELLSCHAFT was founded back in 1992. What began with Sunday Matinees in the Marble Hall of Mirabell Palace Salzburg developed to be one of Austria`s largest and certainly most versatile concert organizations to this day. The Konzertgesellschaft organizes and realizes approx. 700 concerts a year, employs several high skilled full-time staff members and holds over 100 musicians under permanent contract. Konstantin Hiller is the artistic director and co-founder of the Salzburger Konzertgesellschaft. He additionally contributes to the company using his conducting brilliance in his Orchestra 1756 or playing harpsichord with the Ensemble 1756.

The MOZART DINNER CONCERT gave the SKG its first cultural and touristic highlight in 1996. Held in the splendid Baroque Hall of the Stiftskulinarium St. Peter and combining Mozart’s music with a festive 18th century menu, the concert was an immediate success. Thus far, more than 500.000 guests have attended this event which is awarded every year with the TripAdvisor “Certificate of Excellence” and which was voted in the TOP-3 auf Austria`s attractions in 2018.

From 1998 to 2003 and in 2017, SKG organized the traditional Baroque Festival of Hellbrunn where on one weekend in summer the arts of opera, chamber music, drama, pantomime, cabaret, literature and culinary delights met and took stage on the grounds and in the castle of Hellbrunn.

The Konzertgesellschaft has produced numerous Baroque operas such as "Pimpinone" by G. Ph. Telemann, "Orfeo" by Claudio Monteverdi (performed in the historical Stone Theatre of Hellbrunn) as well as one of Mozart‘s earliest works "Bastien and Bastienne" (performed in the historical Hedge Theatre on the grounds of the Mirabell Gardens). Through the years, SKG has collaborated with renowned ensembles such as the Kings Consort, the Palladian Ensemble and soloists such as Pepe Romero, Irena Grafenauer, Peter Riebl, Radovan Vlatkovic and Wolfgang Meyer.

In 2006, Konstantin Hiller used Mozart’s 250th birthday as an opportunity to found the ORCHESTRA 1756. The ensemble devotes itself to the interpretation of musical works composed between 1750 and 1800. The unique Mozart sound originates from intensive work with the style of the 18th century, historical instruments and a balanced formation of musicians.

Since 2006, SKG has had an anchor in Vienna, organizing and conducting more than 100 highly renowned CONCERTS AT SAINT CHARLES CHURCH every year with Orchestra 1756. The "Requiem" by W.A. Mozart and "The Four Seasons" by Antonio Vivaldi are performed weekly at the highest level of musical integrity on historical instruments.

PALACE CONCERTS MIRABELL in the famous Marble Hall of Mirabell Palace in Salzburg began back in 2016. Since then, approx. 300 chamber concerts per year were conducted, staring renowned ensembles and soloists presenting the works of the great classical composers.

The Salzburger Konzertgesellschaft is also engaged in artist management and the management of the company´s own ensembles ORCHESTRA 1756 and AMADEUS CONSORT SALZBURG. In addition SKG is operating their own CD label Atlantis resurrexit and is developing cultural tourism concepts.
